As part of the Winter Action Plan 2024, Queen's Valley School took proactive steps to foster environmental responsibility and sustainability. On October 24, 2024, students in class IV Sandalwood performed a special assembly celebrating Diwali with a focus on raising awareness about air pollution and fire safety. The students presented a vibrant programme showcasing traditional, responsible and eco-friendly ways of observing the auspicious occasion.
During the assembly, Principal Dr. Namita Sharma addressed the students emphasising the role they can play in collectively reducing their environmental impact and helping the world move toward a more sustainable future. Emphasis was laid on the importance of a clean and safe Diwali. She encouraged everyone to avoid the use of firecrackers and to adopt safer, greener ways of celebrating the festival. In addition, students in class XII led a poster campaign to raise awareness about the ways in which carbon footprint may be minimized. The posters displayed ideas including harmful effects of pollution, adoption of renewable energy sources, promotion of green infrastructure and the importance of protecting natural habitats. The initiatives aimed at inspiring students to contribute to a safer and healthier community this winter season.
