SPECIAL ASSEMBLY Guru Purnima (XII B)

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

        — Socrates

On July 29, 2026, the students of Class XII-B presented a special assembly on the occasion of Guru Purnima on the theme of Gratitude titled ‘Beyond the Battlefield – The Gurus Within’. The event highlighted the importance of recognizing life as a guru, showing how various experiences teach qualities like patience, faith and humanity. Through dance, a skit, narration, and a special performance featuring poetry, flute, and Bharatnatyam, the audience explored life’s greatest gurus through the eyes of Aaravi, a student struggling to cope with the uncertainty of her father's deployment to an active battlefield as an army officer. Each scene revealed that while challenges like time, uncertainty, and adversity continue to test one, they also teach resilience, hope, and gratitude. The assembly strongly reflected the spirit of Guru Purnima by stressing that while a teacher teaches one how to learn, life gives opportunities to apply those lessons. The realistic scenes and meaningful dialogues enabled students to understand that growth is shaped as much by life's challenges as by a teacher's guidance. The concluding scene beautifully reinforced the message that a teacher teaches us how to learn, but life teaches us why those lessons matter. The purpose of the assembly was to inspire students to embrace life’s challenges with unwavering curiosity, resilience and integrity, and to be grateful to their teachers, parents, mentors, and every experience that shapes them. The impactful performances left the audience reflective, motivated, and deeply inspired to view every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Our school organized a wonderful storytelling competition called "Spin Your Own Tale," for the students of class VII on 22nd July 2026, where students got a chance to showcase their creativity and public speaking skills. The most exciting part of the contest was the prop challenge, where every participant had to pick a random object from a mystery box and improvise a story around it on the spot. It was amazing to see how cleverly everyone incorporated everyday items like old keys, boxes, clocks into imaginative adventures about magic portals and time travel. The judges evaluated the speakers based on their confidence, story structure, and how smoothly they fit their props into the plot. Overall, the event was a huge success that helped us build confidence, sharpen our quick-thinking skills, and celebrate the joy of creative writing!

How to Create a Winning Profile (XII)

On July 14th, 2026, a workshop was held at Queen’s Valley School, Dwarka, focusing on profile building for college admissions and career development. The session was addressed by Mr. Harsh Wadhwa, a college admissions coach, who explained the need for profile building and elaborated on how students could begin developing a strong profile during their school years. He spoke about the various aspects of building a holistic profile, including academics, extracurricular and co-curricular activities, social contribution, and leadership roles. He explained that profile building is not just an additional pursuit but a necessity in today’s competitive world. Using various examples, he demonstrated how universities and employers seek more than just academic qualifications, but a diverse range of skills, achievements and experiences in different categories as metrics for aptitude. This helped everyone understand the importance of profile building and the opportunities it creates, where even an average student with a well-rounded profile may be preferred over a top scorer with no additional skills or interests. The session concluded by providing practical guidance on building a good profile as a beginner, including networking, participating in competitions, volunteering, pursuing internships, and updating oneself with current affairs by reading newspapers. Overall, the session was informative and engaging, leaving many students motivated to begin building their profiles with consistency and purpose.

Workshop for teachers on Shaping the Future of Learning on AI

AI is not about replacing teachers, it is about empowering them to teach better.

In a step towards future-ready classrooms, seven teachers from different departments of Queen's Valley School participated in an enriching workshop titled ‘Shaping the Future of Learning’ on Artificial Intelligence at the American Centre from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM on July 11th, 2026.

The session began with a welcome and an insightful discussion on the evolution of India’s education system, its global standing including the PISA rankings, and the growing role of AI in classrooms.

The main focus was hands-on training on Google’s tool ‘NotebookLM’. Teachers explored how to use AI to create videos, animations, and interactive activities based on subject-specific topics and chapters. Each teacher planned and presented one AI-based activity on NotebookLM and showcased creative animated outputs. The workshop was truly engaging. Teachers participated with great enthusiasm and learned practical ways to integrate AI into teaching-learning.

Such workshops will greatly benefit educators in making lessons more innovative and student-centric in the future.
