BHARTIYA BHASHA UTSAV

THEME: KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a grand cultural event, the “BHARTIYA BHASHA UTSAV,” spanning 75 days, commencing on 28th September 2023 and culminating on 11th December 2023. The theme for the fortnight from 19th to 25th October 2023 is “Know Your Surroundings”.

The theme was thoughtfully chosen to align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9, 11, and 17 as it emphasized the significance of linguistic and cultural diversity within our communities. This theme encouraged participants to explore and understand their local surroundings, which correlates with SDG#9(Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG#17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By appreciating local languages, students contributed to the preservation of their cultural heritage and strengthened community bonds.

A quiz event was organised to culminate the theme. The event was a remarkable celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. It encouraged students to “know their surroundings” and appreciate the importance of regional languages. The event not only promoted linguistic diversity but also instilled a sense of unity and pride in India’s rich cultural heritage. It serves as a shining example of how education and cultural celebrations can contribute to achieving the broader goals of sustainable development.
