Annual Athletic Meet (Pre-School-XII)

Queen’s Valley School organised the Annual Athletic Meet for the students of classes III-XII on the 31st of August, 2024 in an attempt to imbibe the values inherent in SDG3(Good Health and Well-being) and with the intent to promote physical activity, sportsmanship, and healthy competition. Numerous activities namely station race, hoop race, jump with a ball, rope skipping race, tug of war, and relay race were organised at various levels. A defined procedure for selection was followed where the students were judged based on their technique, sports–specific skills, discipline, and sportsmanship. The students selected during the preliminary rounds took part in the final competition.

Students were extremely enthusiastic to be a part of these activities wherein they showcased team spirit and resilience. The event was witnessed by students and teachers, whose constant cheer kept the participants thrilled and motivated. The Principal, Dr. Namita Sharma, appreciated the active involvement of students and teachers to make the event a successful one. The event strengthened the ties that bind students, faculty, and the larger school community, instilling in all of them a sense of pride and the motto ‘We played, we collaborated, and we emerged stronger, together’.

    Chartered Accountant Career Counselling Programme (XI & XII Commerce)

    Queen’s Valley School organized an enlightening workshop on Chartered Accountancy and its prospects as a profession, for the students of classes XI and XII (Commerce and Economics) on 29th August 2024. The resource person, CA Neetu Kalra, shared her expertise and insights, making the session informative and engaging.

    The workshop aimed to educate students about Chartered Accountancy not only as a degree but as a profession, its scope, and the opportunities it offers. CA Kalra elaborated on the career path, discussing the roles, responsibilities, and growth prospects in the field. She also provided valuable guidance on the academic requirements, examination structure, and skill sets necessary to succeed as a Chartered Accountant.CA Kalra’s expertise, experience, and enthusiasm greatly inspired the students, making the workshop an inspiring and informative experience.

    The session culminated in a comprehensive Q&A session, where CA Kalra addressed students’ queries on how to balance academics with professional pursuits, with clarity and expertise, providing valuable insights and practical advice.

    With its comprehensive coverage and engaging delivery, the workshop proved to be a valuable addition to the school’s career guidance initiatives.

      Special Assembly - Drug and Substance Abuse (IX)
      “Your life is worth more than any substance.”

      The students of Class IX at Queens Valley School, participated in a special assembly on 27th August, 2024, as a part of their SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work and Action) class, focused on the pressing issue of Drug and Substance Abuse. The activity was conducted under the Prehri Club of the school. The goal was to educate students and raise awareness about the risks of drug abuse, its effects on individuals and society, and the significance of making informed and responsible choices.
      The students actively engaged in various presentations and performances, which included informative skits, speeches, and dance performances that highlighted the harmful effects of drugs, ways to resist peer pressure and also motivated the students to make informed choices in their lives.
      The event was a great success, as the assembly concluded leaving a lasting impression on the students about the significance of staying away from drugs, supporting those who might be struggling with the addiction and making positive choices in their lives.

        Visit to Footwear Design and Development Institute, Noida

        On 27th August 2024, the Commerce and Humanities students of class XII of Queen’s Valley School visited the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, Noida to gain insights into the world of footwear design and development. FDDI is a premier institute in India, known for its excellence in footwear design, fashion, leather goods, and retail management. The visit aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of the industry and inspire potential career interests.

        The students were warmly welcomed by the FDDI staff and given an overview of the institute’s history, mission, and various programs offered. Experts from the institute conducted interactive sessions on various aspects of footwear design, including material selection, design processes, and production techniques. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions.

        The students toured the design studios, production labs, and the display center. They observed the latest technology and equipment used in footwear design and manufacturing. A highlight of the visit was a hands-on workshop where students tried their hand at basic footwear design. They learned about sketching designs, selecting materials, and assembling components.

        The visit to FDDI was an enriching experience for the students. It provided them with a deeper understanding of the footwear design industry and inspired many to consider careers in this creative and dynamic field. The students left with a newfound appreciation for the art and science of footwear design.

          AURORA 2024 - An Inter School Fest at QVS

          On 24th and 25th August, Queen’s Valley School organised Aurora 2024, a highly anticipated and successful event, underscoring the intellectual acumen and oratory skills of students. Taking place over the course of two days, the competition brought together participants from various grade levels, each eager to showcase their prowess on a range of relevant and challenging topics.

          Day 1 of the event began with two competitions, debate, in collaboration with ‘Behes’ and Book Discussion Competition (Perspectives- English; दृष्टिकोण- Hindi) beginning with preliminary rounds. Students prepared extensively, demonstrating their commitment through well-researched arguments and structured presentations. The preliminary rounds featured dynamic exchanges, with participants displaying impressive clarity and depth in their arguments. Judges, comprising guest experts, were tasked with evaluating the debates and discussions on the parameters of accuracy, fluency as well as presentation. Their feedback was instrumental in guiding students towards more refined and persuasive arguments.

          On Day 2, the top teams advanced to the final debate, which was the highlight of the competition. This culminating round saw the leading debaters engage in high-stakes discussions, addressing complex issues with sophisticated reasoning and eloquence. The final debates were particularly notable for their high level of professionalism and the ability of participants to think quickly and adapt to new information.

          The judges’ deliberations were followed by an awards ceremony, where the top performers were recognized for their exceptional skills. Awards were given in various categories, including Best Speakers, and Best Team Name in the debate and the top three positions in the Book Discussion competition. 

          In addition to showcasing individual talents, the event fostered a spirit of intellectual curiosity and respectful discourse among students. It also encouraged a collaborative atmosphere, as participants engaged in constructive feedback and supported one another throughout the event.

          Overall, the event was a resounding success, reflecting the school's commitment to enhancing students' critical thinking, public speaking, and analytical skills. The event not only provided a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities but also reinforced the importance of engaging with complex issues in a thoughtful and articulate manner.

            Alumni Meet 2024

            On 24th August, 2024, Queen's Valley School hosted a memorable Alumni Meet, bringing together former students to reconnect and celebrate their shared experiences. The event was held in the school premises to rekindle fond memories and strengthen the alumni network.

            This session allowed alumni to catch up with old friends and meet fellow graduates from different batches. The ambiance was lively and nostalgic, with a display of old school photographs and memorabilia adding a personal touch.
            The event featured distinguished alumni who shared their personal and professional journeys since leaving school.

            As a gesture of gratitude, each alumna was given a thoughtfully prepared folder and a bookmark. The folders were elegantly designed with the school’s crest. The handmade bookmarks, featuring inspirational quotes, were a charming keepsake.

            To conclude the event, a feedback session was conducted where alumni shared their thoughts and suggestions for future reunions. The overall response was highly positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the organization of the event and the opportunity to reconnect.

            The Alumni Meet at Queen's Valley School was a triumphant success, fostering a sense of community and belonging among former students. The provided tokens of gratitude were well-received and added a personal touch to the event. The school's efforts in organizing such a meaningful gathering demonstrate its commitment to maintaining strong connections with its alumni and celebrating their achievements.

              TED Talk by Alumnae

              At Queen's Valley School, we are dedicated to nurturing each student's unique strengths and providing opportunities that prepare them for attaining success. Our alumni are a testament to this commitment, showcasing how obstacles can be transformed into opportunities with the right support.

              On 23 August, 2024, we had the honor of welcoming two of our remarkable alumni for a TED Talk event. Our guests, K. Megha and Shreya Moza, have both navigated through their educational journeys with Specific Learning Disability (SLD). Shreya is currently pursuing a MA (Hons) in Political Science and a multimedia course from Delhi University. Meanwhile, Megha is pursuing B.Ed. in Special Education from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University, aiming to explore her passion for the subject.

              During the event, Megha and Shreya reflected on their time as students at QVS, expressing heartfelt gratitude to their teachers and parents for their unwavering support. Their words resonated with the audience, offering encouragement and hope to our students. Their stories serve as a reminder that with perseverance, one can overcome any obstacles and achieve goals, both academically and beyond. We wish both of them well in their future endeavours!

                Independence Day Celebrations at QVS

                The Independence Day celebration at Queen’s Valley School on August 12, 2024, was a grand and memorable event, marked by a profound sense of patriotism and pride as the school community gathered to honor the 78th anniversary of India’s independence.

                A warm and distinguished welcome was accorded to the guests as they were greeted with a prestigious guard of honor by the NCC. Shri S.K. Sachdeva was celebrated for his exemplary visionary leadership, while Mr. Gautam Mittal, the school’s Manager, and Mr. Mahavir Goel and Mr. Abhishek Goel, esteemed members of the managing committee, were honored for their profound and impactful contributions to the educational community.

                The cultural segment of the celebration began with a beautiful prayer dance, a serene expression of devotion that captivated the audience and created an atmosphere of reverence and spiritual connection. The highlight of the event was the flag hoisting ceremony, where Shri S.K. Sachdeva unfurled the national flag, symbolising the nation’s unity and freedom. The audience rose in unison, their voices melding into a powerful, proud rendition of the national anthem.
                Following the anthem, Chairman sir delivered an inspiring speech, emphasising the importance of independence and the responsibilities it entails. His words resonated deeply with the audience, particularly the students, encouraging them to contribute positively to the nation’s future.

                The programme continued with the Saraswati Vandana, a graceful performance invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, reminding everyone of the importance of knowledge, wisdom and creativity in shaping a bright future. A thematic medley titled ‘India First: 'सबसे पहले मेरा भारत’ was performed by the students, showcasing the significance of prioritising the nation’s welfare. The performance highlighted the deeper meaning of patriotism, beyond mere pride, emphasising the need for active participation in the nation’s progress.

                The event concluded with the release of tri-colour balloons by the dignitaries, symbolising the collective hopes and dreams for a brighter future for India. Manya Singh, the Head Girl, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, faculty, and students for making the event truly memorable.

                In conclusion, the celebration was a resounding success, filled with cultural performances, patriotic fervor, and inspiring messages. The event not only honored the sacrifices of the past but also instilled a sense of duty and pride in the younger generation, reminding them of their vital role in shaping India’s future.

                  EBSB: Children’s Film Festival on Andaman and Nicobar

                  In August 2024, Queen's Valley School hosted the Children’s Film Festival under the CBSE Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. Students from classes III to VII enthusiastically participated in the event, which featured the screening of a documentary on the folktales and historical significance of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, including the iconic Cellular Jail.

                  This cultural activity aimed to promote the spirit of national unity and integration while fostering an appreciation for India’s rich cultural diversity. The documentary provided students with insights into the traditions, customs, and unique heritage of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands.

                  After the screening, students created interactive displays, bookmarks, and brochures showcasing the islands' breathtaking tourism, cuisine, culture, and natural beauty. These artistic efforts highlighted the students' creativity and enhanced their knowledge and appreciation for India's vibrant heritage.
